Sailing and watersports in Cornwall
Surrounded by water and some of the most spectacular coastline in the country, the possibilities are endless when it comes to being in, on or under the water during your holiday in Cornwall with Creekside Cottages. Whether you wish to surf on the North Coast on one of Cornwall's renowned surfing beaches (Fistral Beach, Newquay; Watergate Bay; Gwithian; and Porthtowan to name just a few!), or experience the more tranquil waters on the South Coast by canoe, kayak or dinghy - the water really is there to be enjoyed by all.
Mylor Harbour is a hive of activity throughout the year and it is a delight to watch and take part in all the action both on and off the water - if you like to sail or kayak, launching at Mylor Harbour gives you access to the Carrick Roads and the River Fal which can help you get to Truro or the Helford - depending on the weather and the tides of course.
Cornish Cruising - the local yacht charter company where you can learn to sail with qualified instructors and obtain RYA qualifications.

Fal-Ruan Upper Creeks, River Fal
Canoe the woodland fringed upper creeks of the Fal-Ruan nature reserve from the Smuggler’s above King Harry’s Ferry and experience an oasis of tranquillity and birdsong – this is one of the most remote areas of tidal river in Cornwall. Rise with the tide and stop for lunch at Ruan Lanihorne before returning downstream.
Lots of people now enjoy the water by canoe or kayak. Everyone has the right to canoe or kayak on tidal waters but you must be aware of tides and take precautions and never venture further than your physical capabilities - you have to return to base and it may be exhausting against the tide. Always check out access arrangements and always be respectful to fishermen. There are many places where canoes, kayaks and lifejackets can be rented by the hour or day. Beginners can join a guided trip or excursion.
